Blood Orange Margarita

October 19, 2010

in Tequila

Have you ever had a blood orange? They’re so pretty and delicious, they definitely make my list of top flavors for cocktails. Lucky for us, the fruit has become widely available in specialty markets, along with bottled juice. I found the brand Noble at my local grocery store and was completely satisfied with its freshness – make sure to pick some up if you find it!

2 ounces white tequila

1 ounce Blood Orange Juice – freshly squeezed or bottled

1 ½ ounces lime juice

½ ounce triple sec

½ ounce simple syrup

Rim a margarita glass with salt using a lime wedge. In a cocktail shaker, add ice and all ingredients. Shake well and strain into margarita glass and serve.

When you say “Orange Liquor” are you talking about Gran Marnier or an equivalent?

The Blonde Gourmand October 22, 2010

Hi Zach,

You can use Grand Marnier, Cointreau, or any triple sec you have on hand. Hope this helps!
