Hot dogs are one of my many (many, many) guilty pleasures. Salty, meaty, bready, yummy. NYC is full of these diet-busters, but I feel like if you’re gonna go there then you should just go for the best, right?! Some of the best dogs I’ve had in a loooong time have been at the dirt-cheap & fabulous Crif Dogs.
One of my favorite things about Crif Dogs is that nothing on the menu tops 5 bucks. The dogs are so creative and fun – you’ve got selections like avocado & sour cream, fried egg with bacon & cheese, and chili-cole slaw. My favorite was the standard cheese dog with half-sour pickles accompanied by some amazing waffle fries (also covered in cheese).
The Manhattan spot has some seating available with a couple of tables and a long counter with stools. You’ve also got the park right down the block as an alternate. Very low-key and fun with serious attitude – the perfect setting for 3AM hunger pains.
Crif Dogs – East Village location reviewed with alternate location in Brooklyn. Hot dogs from $2.50 to $5.00, fries $4.50 and under, drinks, beer & shakes $5 and under.
Love Level – Great, unique hot dogs at the right price…yum!
